FREE EBOOKLET http://www.sweetnaturalliving.com There’s a smoothie revolution going on right now! That’s great because it means people are consuming more fruits and vegetables than ever. But, in this video I want to discuss why smoothies are best avoided if you are seeking optimal health.

How are animals consuming their food in the wild? Whole, fresh, raw – in its natural state! When blending fruit into a smoothie, it’s technically still a whole food but we are bypassing the chewing mechanism, an important part of digestion. We are designed to chew our food, not blend it first. Sure, we can make up for it by swishing the smoothie around our mouth before swallowing, but it still isn’t the same as actually peeling each fruit, using our hands bringing it to our mouth, chewing it, swallowing it. The whole process is important.


Chewing mixes the food with salivary enzymes (amylase) that play an important role in the digestive process.


When we use the blender, whether it be common kitchen blender or a high powered vitamix or blendtec, we always degrade the food due to a certain amount of oxidation. Nutrients are oxidized when they come in contact with oxygen after they are peeled, or even more so when they are blended due to the vortex sucking in air.

Remember humans are frugivores and thrives best on a raw food diet with lots of fruits and vegetables!


I don’t mind a banana smoothie now and then, and if someone hands me a green smoothie, I won’t necessarily say no as I’m not positively against it, but I know from experience that it’s always best to actually EAT my bananas rather than blend them up. My digestion, satisfaction and health is always better when I eat naturally.


If smoothies are your thing, cool, but just remember that eating whole foods as they are is EVEN BETTER!
